Governor Kasich Appoints Ohio's First-Ever Casino Commission - Cleveland Leader

image Ohio voters approved casinos to be built in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Toledo in 2009. On Thursday, Ohio governor John Kasich has appointed a bipartisan commission overseeing the state's casinos.

Kasich appointed Jo Ann Davidson, the former first woman speak of the Ohio

House, to chair the seven-member commission that will regulate the new casino industry in Ohio. In December, the Ohio Senate rejected former Gov. Ted Strickland's choices for the panel, making way for Kasich to choose his own nominees.

The other six members of the commission include: McKinley Brown, Martin Hoke, Ranjan Manoranjan, Peter Silverman, John Steinhauer and June Taylor. State law requires that the commission includes an attorney, a certified public accountant, an individual with law enforcement experience, and representation from the counties where the casinos are to be built.
