Philly casino group asks Pa. for license back - Bloomberg

E-mail Print PDF

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Casino giant Caesars Entertainment and other investors in the long-stalled Foxwoods Philadelphia Casino project are asking state regulators to return the license they stripped last month.

A casino project lawyer, Fred Jacoby, said Monday that the petition for

reconsideration includes additional information and documents designed to address concerns raised by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. It was filed Friday.

Board members voted 6-1 on Dec. 16 to strip the $50 million license.

Some board members expressed concern that the group didn't have the financing commitments it needs to build the $275 million casino and that it wouldn't live up to the charitable commitments it made before winning the license in 2006.

A board spokesman says the panel will review the petition. Its next public meeting is Jan. 26.
