This robber, however, did not get away. An alert security guard chased the suspect out the door and brought him to the ground.
"The Bellagio I'm sure has the most state-of-the-art, sophisticated, well-trained security staff," said Bighorn Casino owner Rany Miller. "The advantage is we have a smaller facility. We have security, obviously, 24-hours-a-day. We have a surveillance system and a surveillance director. When you're in a smaller place, incidents are brought to your attention much quicker."
Miller says unlike the chip grab in North Las Vegas, the casino heist at the Bellagio may have been brewing for weeks.
"People can become desperate. Desperate times do create desperate people, and then opportunity arises," Miller said. " I don't know if that's the case at the Bellagio, but it might have been the case here where it was not planned very well. It was an opportune time, and the suspect took his shot, and he failed."
Police arrested and charged the suspect in the Bighorn robbery. Police are still searching for the culprit from the Bellagio robbery, whom they also suspect was behind a similar robbery at the Suncoast.
