Churchill Downs agreed in 2018 to the $178.9 million purchase of the Summit Township racetrack, casino.
Churchill Downs Inc. on Friday announced that it has completed its purchase of Presque Isle Downs & Casino, 8199 Perry Highway, in Summit Township.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on Wednesday unanimously approved the change of control of Presque Isle Downs & Casino, which had been held by Eldorado Resorts Inc. since 2014.
Churchill Downs Inc., of Louisville, Kentucky, in 2018 agreed to the $178.9 million purchase of the Presque Isle Downs racetrack and casino.
"Presque Isle will give us a foothold in Pennsylvania and the opportunity to participate in the sports betting and online gaming market throughout the state," Churchill Downs Chief Executive Bill Carstanjen said. "We are excited about welcoming Presque Isle and its employees to the Churchill family."
Presque Isle Downs opened in 2007 as a property of MTR Gaming, which merged with Eldorado in 2014. Presque Isle Downs & Casino operates approximately 1,600 slots, 32 table games and a poker room, and also conducts live thoroughbred racing.
