The Borgata is the top gaming resort in the world, according to a panel of industry insiders.
Atlantic City's Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa was awarded the 2018 "Property of the Year" during the Global Gaming Awards at the Global Gaming Expo. The award is a new addition to the expo.
Among the highlights for the Borgata this year was being the first Atlantic City casino to roll out sports betting. Later in the summer, it launched mobile sports betting.
Atlantic City casino earnings up 1.6 percent in second quarter
Britney Spears, Cher, Barry Manilow, Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chappelle, Camila Cabello, and Ringo Starr performed at the Borgata this year.
The casino hotel, which opened 15 years ago, also features the Savor Borgata Culinary Series events with celebrity-chef hosted dinners, tasting events and an outdoor food festival.
"This award is welcome validation of the hard work contributed by every member of our Borgata team as we celebrate 15 years of leadership and innovation in Atlantic City," Borgata president Marcus Glover said. "Since entering the market in 2003, Borgata has made it our mission to grow and invest in not only our property and product, but in our team members and guests; offering an unrivaled experience to anyone who walks through our doors."
A committee of 60 judges encompassing the global gaming industry chose the winners at ceremony Monday night at the Sands Expo Las Vegas. Each category contained a list of 10 finalists.
No other Atlantic City hotel casinos were among the property of the year finalists. Foxwood Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut as well as Pennsylvania's Mount Airy Casino Resort were finalists, though.
