Are you ready to party at Bastrop’s back to school bash or try your luck at Smithville’s Casino Night? This weekend is packed with fun events for the whole family.

July 28
Stuff the Bus & Back to School Bash 2018: 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bastrop ISD Memorial Stadium, 755 Highway 21, Cedar Creek. For the Back to School Bash, games, activities, and food will be available free of charge for attendees. Vendors will include businesses, civic and nonprofit groups, district campuses, governmental agencies and local organizations.
July 28
Summer reading program finale party: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bastrop Public Library, 1100 Church St.

Smithville Casino Night: 6 to 10 p.m. at the Smithville Recreation Center, 106 Royston St. The event will include a buffet, drinks, 50/50 raffle tickets, live and silent auctions and traditional casino games like blackjack, roulette, craps, poker and slots. July 29
Trinity Baptist Church’s community outreach: 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 607 Loop 230 W, Smithville, about a ½ mile north of Brookshire Brothers Store. The church will have a free hot dog meal for the community, as well as snacks, gently used clothes and books. There will be door prizes and a water slide bounce house. Swana of Divine Dezigns Hair Salon will give free haircuts (please have clean hair). Everything is free.
July 31-Aug. 4
Bastrop Homecoming and Rodeo: July 31-4 at Mayfest Hill, 25 American Legion Drive. Festivities include three nights of live entertainment, Cowboy’s Professional Rodeo Association rodeo, a carnival, vendors, exhibits, the Mike Mathison Memorial Horseshoe/Washers Tournament, high school class reunions and the 4-H Cake Auction. Aug. 2
Farm Street Opry: 5:30 p.m. at the Bastrop Convention & Exhibit Center, 1408 Chestnut St. The event is a family-friendly musical performance featuring local talent and special guest performers. Cost is $7.50; free for ages 10 and younger. For information, call 512-332-8981.
Aug. 3
Summer movie: 6:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Smithville, 300 Burleson St. The church will screen Disney’s “Frozen” and serve ice cream sundaes.
