Developers and community leaders plan a ceremonial groundbreaking Wednesday morning to mark the start of construction of Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady.
Representatives of Rush Street Gaming will join city and county officials and community leaders at 10:30 a.m. on the banks of the Mohawk River.
The state Gaming Commission approved the Schenectady casino's license in December as well as Montreign in the Catskills and Lago in Seneca County.
Rivers Casino will be next to the mixed-use Mohawk Harbor development under construction by the Galesi Group along Erie Boulevard.
The mix of residential, retail and commercial space will include a 124-room Courtyard by Marriott and a 50-slip harbor on the Mohawk River and Erie Canal.
