DeLuna Fest: Sunday - Pensacola News Journal

E-mail Print PDF

The sun continues to smile down upon the sands of Pensacola Beach, eager to hear the lineup on the third day of the inaugural DeLuna Fest.

The Revivalists, a six piece band complete with a saxophone/hand drum player, took the Wind Creek Hotel and Casino Stage about 1 p.m. this

afternoon.

A crowd of hundreds danced in the soft sand of Pensacola Beach as the energetic singer in white and pink socks belted out his lyrical melodies.

Dew Pendleton played on the GoPensacola.com Stage about 1:30 p.m., about 15 minutes later than he was scheduled to begin.

The band had to wait for a piece of the drum kit to arrive before the show could start.

Pendleton used his strong vocal harmonies and skillful piano melodies to pump up the crowd that swayed to the music as they stood in the parking lot of Casino Beach. Violinist Will Fink helped create the rich, full sound for which Pendleton's band is known.

The Sunday afternoon crowd continues to grow, but there still are fewer people at the festival at 1:45 p.m. today than at the same time Saturday.

Pendelton was Wesley Cunningham's top pick for today.

"That's the only band I have to see today," Cunningham, 23, of Pensacola said. "That's why I came today."

Cunningham and friend Alana Smith came for all three days of DeLuna Fest.

Smith and Cunningham both agreed, Thirty Seconds to Mars was their favorite show on Saturday.

"It was beautiful; when they started pulling people on stage, it was awesome," Cunningham said of the sunset-drenched show.

This morning Lucas Crutchfield played for a crowd of hundreds on the GoPensacola.com Stage, and gospel music flowed from the main stages on Casino Beach.

DeLuna Fest had about 50,000 free Sunday tickets to give away. By 11 a.m. there were still about 5,000 tickets available at the gate.

Escambia County Sheriff's deputies only arrested four people at DeLuna Fest on Saturday, despite the thousands who partied hard on the sands of Pensacola Beach.

An Alabama man was arrested Saturday evening for trespassing when he tried to push through the festival barricades and was stopped by deputies.
