Slideshow: Las Vegas Restuarants
A little more than a year after its opening, the M Resort has been acquired by regional casino operator Penn National
Despite being one of Las Vegas' most beautiful and trendy properties, M's location several miles south of the Strip proved to be a big negative when building and buying dried up on that side of town.
The M has rooms with spectacular views of Las Vegas, nine restaurants (including what many consider the city's best buffet) and one of the most vibrant summer pool scenes. Daily operations will not be disrupted by the changeover.
New rooms: Wynn Las Vegas is in renovating all of its guest rooms and suites, a process that will continue through early 2011. Upgrades include new wallpaper, carpets, chairs, couches and lamps.
New bar: The Sporting House has opened at New York-New York. Located in the space formerly occupied by ESPN Zone, the two-story bar and restaurant features 130 HD TVs and is open from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. daily.
More Mac: Mac King's Comedy Magic, in its 10th year at Harrah's, has extended its contract through 2015. That means five more years for Las Vegas' best afternoon entertainment value. Tickets cost $25.
Football play: The Playboy Club at the Palms is hosting Monday Night Football parties for selected big games this year. Get free entry into the club during the game and happy-hour prices on drinks and appetizers. The free entry saves $20.
Free play: If you're in town during football season, one of the best plays you can make is entering the "Pick the Pros" football contest at any Coast casino. Join the players club and get three free entries into that weekend's contest. It pays $30,000 cash to the player(s) who pick the most winners. Once you've joined, you can enter every week by swiping your card at kiosks in Gold Coast, Suncoast, Orleans, Sam's Town, Fremont, California, Eldorado or Jokers Wild.
Question: Last time I was in Vegas, I happened into a bar that was packed with Arizona Cardinals fans. Is there a list of bars that follow specific NFL teams?
Answer: For the Cardinals, you were probably at Murphy's Law. The Dallas Cowboys are followed at Mr. D's and Shucks Tavern. The San Diego Chargers are popular at more than a dozen bars, including Michael's Pub. There's a list of which bars support which teams at www.LVASports.com.
