The Poker Room at the Spa Resort Casino in Palm Springs has been closed and layoffs were involved.

Tribal representatives declined to provide the number of layoffs or a reason for the closure.

Therese Everett-Kerley, a spokesman for the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla

Indians' casino properties, said the room will be converted to a nonsmoking slot section and is expected to reopen in a couple weeks.

Everett Kerley said she was not privy to operational information and would be unable to provide additional details at this time.
