The Festival of Trees is in full swing as the Bay Area Rotary Club prepares to auction off several decorated Christmas trees, a family viewing day took place to encourage families to come in and marvel Christmas decorating at it's
The Bay Area Rotary Club sponsored the family viewing day from one to four PM on Sunday and youngsters got more than just Christmas trees, they also got to sit on Santa's lap and share cookies and hot cider.
Judy Moody, Executive Director says, "we have pictures with Santa. We have two elves that are here and Santa's here and little kids, or big kids can come and have their picture taken. It's free and we have little frames for them, they get to pick out whatever frame they want."
The focus of the event, was on the many trees that lined the Mill Casino's lobby.
A panel of judges got together earlier in the week and reviewed the trees and presented awards to the best looking ones.
On Thursday, the trees will be auctioned off by a live auctioneer.
"That's the Bay Area Rotary Club's biggest fundraiser of the year," says Moody. "Lots of businesses and agencies from around the community sponsor a tree and then they can come and decorate it whichever theme they want and a lot of them are themed, there's a Griswold Family Christmas, there's a Nightmare Before Christmas."
The auction takes place at 6 PM on Thursday in the Salmon Room of the Mill Casino Hotel. Successful bidders can also choose to donate the tree to a needy family.
