Since 1996, Casino Aztar has celebrated the spirit of the holiday season by hosting charity slot and blackjack tournaments during December. The tournament entry fee is $10 cash or a new toy valued at $10 or more. More than 1,200 toys were donated in 2009.
This year's tournaments begin Wednesday and continue through Sunday. All proceeds benefit Salvation Army's Toy Town
All toy donations will go directly to Evansville's Salvation Army for Evansville's Toy Town. All monetary donations will help the Evansville Salvation Army provide food and assistance to struggling local families this holiday season. Each Toy Town family also will receive nutritious food for a family meal.
Santa Clothes Club was organized in 1946 to provide new clothing for needy grade school children. After 64 years, the need still exists. This year, $100 will completely clothe one boy or girl with an outfit including shoes and a winter coat. The names of children are obtained through area school systems, and about 2,500 children are helped each year.
