Indiana could require casino money spending reports - Palladium-Item

MUNSTER, Ind. (AP) New regulations could soon require those receiving required payments from Indiana casinos to report how that money is spent to the state Gaming Commission.

The state Supreme Court in May recognized the commissions authority to oversee changes to local

development agreements. The Times of Munster reports that seemingly opened up a 1995 East Chicago casino deal to greater disclosure and potential changes.

Much of the payments from the East Chicago casino have gone to two economic development organizations that have faced questions over their spending.

Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller says city residents have the right to know whether the community benefited from the payments.

The new regulations still must be published in the official Indiana Register before taking effect.
