Since reopening May and June, most casino resort properties in Southern California have been working on getting various amenities operating again, including their hotel rooms.
Some have opened with limited room capacity while others have eliminated certain services. And some are open only to VIPs. Here’s a look at which tribal-owned Southern California casinos have reopened their hotels and how they are operating during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The Rancho Mirage complex opened its hotel at the same time as its casino and many of its restaurants on Friday, May 22.
According to information posted to Agua Caliente’s website, turndown service is not being provided in the hotel rooms currently and limited room service is available. The pool is open. The fitness center is closed.
Prior to the opening of the hotel, all of the rooms were sprayed with a Food and Drug Administration-approved electrostatic coating that prevents pathogens from living on surfaces, according to a YouTube video produced by the resort.
Barona Resort & Casino

Barona reopened on Wednesday, May, 27, but operated its hotel with very limited capacity. It’s currently operating at 50% capacity just for invited players. Barona is not taking any reservations and rooms are only available as comps.
Barona’s fitness center is closed; its pool is closed; its business center is available on request.
Rooms are cleaned and disinfected on checkout. They’re not serviced during a guest’s visit, but the resort will deliver additional linens and towels.
Non-essential items, including coffee makers, ice, accent pillows and bed scarves, have been removed from hotel rooms. Complimentary coffee and ice can be ordered through room service. A 24-hour room service menu is available, with servers dropping the food off at a guest’s door and not entering the room.

The new resort in Anza, which opened to the public on Wednesday, May 27, opened its 58-room hotel at full availability at the same time as its casino.
In an earlier interview, the casino’s director of operations said rooms are cleaned rigorously after each departure and every day for guests that stay over. She said at least once weekly, a device that emits high heat is used to sanitize the rooms.
Fantasy Springs Resort Casino

Fantasy Springs did not initially reopen its hotel when the property reopened on June 2. A spokesman confirmed that the hotel has since opened at Fantasy Springs, but only at 50% capacity and for VIP players only.
Room service is available. The pool is open. The fitness center is closed.
Each room is fogged with a disinfectant between guests and cleaning schedules in the hotel area have been increased in frequency. There’s also no smoking allowed in the hotel rooms.
Harrah’s Resort Southern California

Harrah’s reopened its casino on Friday, May 22 and its hotel on Tuesday, May 26. Guests must be 21 or older.
Room service has been suspended, as have daily room cleaning services. Rooms are cleaned after checkout. Harrah’s pool is open. The fitness center is temporarily closed.
Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa opened its hotel when it reopened on Friday, May 22. Guests must be 18 or older.
The hotel pool is open. The fitness center is open.
The hotel is using electrostatic antimicrobial cleaning equipment to sanitize rooms between guests. High-touch amenities such as irons, coffee makers, magazines and throw pillows are only available by request.
Pala Casino, Spa & Resort

When Pala Casino, Spa and Resort reopened on Friday, May 22, its hotel opened with limited availability but it has since reopened fully.
Pala’s tourmaline pools are open. Its fitness center is closed.
According to Pala’s website, Pala’s staff cleans and sanitizes all hard surfaces, floors and touch points in the hotel room, including door handles, thresholds, hand railings, furniture, the mini bar, telephones, keypads, remote controls, faucets, toilet handles and more. It uses electrostatic foggers that use static electricity to increase coverage of disinfectants.

Only one of Pechanga’s two hotel towers is open and for now, only available to invited guests.
“We continue to keep one tower closed to limit guest volumes and do not yet know when reservations will be open to the public,” Media and Public Relations Director Ciara Green wrote in an email.
According to Pechanga’s website, valet service is not available and Pechanga’s pool area is currently closed.
Room service is available, according to a video posted to the website.
The video says guests receive a welcome kit that comes with hand sanitizer and two face coverings when they check in.
It says that certain items such as paper products, magazines, tissues and tissue boxes, ad cubes, bibles and pens, have been removed from rooms; all glassware has been removed and replaced with individually-wrapped cups.
The video says that rooms are cleaned and sanitized methodically after a guest’s departure using hospital grade cleansers.

Soboba Casino Resort reopened its casino on May 27 and its hotel on June 15. Grant Hirata, director of the hotel, wrote in an email that it is operating at a 70% occupancy cap and only hotel guests are able to use the hotel entrance to the resort, where guests’ temperatures are checked. Guests must be 21 or older.
Room service uses only disposable utensils and containers. The resort’s pool area remains closed until adjustments can be made for social distancing.
The hotel is also issuing hospitality kits that come with gloves, masks and hand sanitizer that are heat-sealed.
Amenities such as coffee makers, ice buckets and irons have been removed from rooms, but are available on request. Those amenities have been sanitized and placed into heat-sealed bags before being given to guests.
Sycuan Casino Resort

Sycuan Casino reopened both its casino and hotel on Wednesday, May 20.
According to updates on the resort’s website, it is currently in phase two of its reopening and certain hotel amenities, including valet and room service, are not currently available. The website said the reopening of these amenities is still to be determined.
It says that high contact areas such as elevators, escalators, door handles and lobby areas are cleaned and maintained as part of the casino’s extensive health and sanitation program.
Valley View Casino & Hotel

Valley View reopened on Friday, May 22. On its website, Valley View says it has “significantly” reduced its hotel occupancy and is currently not taking any more hotel reservations.
Viejas Casino & Resort

Viejas Casino & Resort, which reopened May 18, appears to have availability at each of its two hotel properties, the Viejas Casino & Resort hotel and the Willows Hotel & Spa at Viejas.
The pools for each of the properties are open and the fitness centers are closed, according to the website.
It says that at the hotel front desk, guests will be socially distanced according to markers and shared tools such as the card swiper, screen and stylus will be sanitized before during and after each transaction.
The website said that room service food will be placed in a plastic bag by an employee who will set the bag on the ground, knock on the hotel room door, step back six feet or more until the guest opens the door to retrieve their meals.
