Valley View Casino & Hotel, Agua Caliente casinos extend coronavirus closure – Pasadena Star News

Valley View Casino & Hotel in Valley Center and the Agua Caliente casinos in the Coachella Valley both recently announced plans to extend their coronavirus-related closures.

Valley View has extended its closure through April 16, officials for the casino announced on Monday, March 30. The casino previously said it was hoping to reopen April 3.

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians announced that their casino properties would now remain closed through April 12. The casino properties originally planned to stay closed through the end of March.

A letter from Valley View’s General Manager Bruce Howard posted on Valley View’s website and shared on Facebook said that officials planned to reopen the casino, hotel and restaurants at 8 a.m., April 17, “but as we all know that date could change.”

“We continue to receive a tremendous outpouring of support from so many of our guests as well as from many other citizens of Southern California,” Howard said in his letter. “We ask that you continue to email or call with any questions, comments or suggestions that you may have. All updates will continue to be on our website at www.ValleyViewCasino.com.

A post on the Agua Caliente websites that was not disseminated to social media thanked guests for their patience. The post said that starting April 1, team members will be paid by using their earned vacation hours and they will continue to receive health benefits through April 30.

The post also said that while the casinos stay closed, so will the Indian Canyons Golf Resort in Palm Springs and the hiking areas of Tahquitz Canyon and the Indian Canyons.

Valley View and the Agua Caliente casinos join other Southern California casinos such as Pechanga Resort Casino, San Manuel Casino, Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, Soboba Casino Resort, Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa and Harrah’s Resort Southern California in deciding to keep its doors closed longer.

Many of the casinos have cited recent developments, such as Gov. Gavin Newsom’s statewide stay at home order among the reasons that they have decided to extend the closures.
