A non-gaming Native American tribe is hoping to make up to $3 million a year by leasing some of their land for hemp production. The Santa Rosa Band of Cahuilla Indians hopes to eventually use its land to grow cannabis — which is much more lucrative — but legal uncertainty around growing the plant led them to opt for hemp for the time being. Hemp, which contains far less THC than cannabis, is used for items such as textiles and paper. Read more.Â
