MOUNT PLEASANT, MI - Bargain hunters hoping to get bottom-dollar deals on old furnishings at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mount Pleasant are out of luck. The casino has cut its guest room liquidation sale short after selling out of inventory in mere hours on Monday, Jan. 6.
Soaring Eagle originally planned to have the liquidation sale of old televisions, mattresses and other room furniture span from Monday to Wednesday, and again for three days next week.
However, Soaring Eagle announced at 2:30 p.m. on Monday on social media that it sold out of items and will not be having a sale for the general public.
The first day of the sale was open to tribal members and employees only, with tribal members having exclusive access during the first two hours of the sale.
Items were priced at $5 each and included beds, mattresses, chairs, desks, refrigerators, mirrors, televisions and more. A variety of items such as baskets, luggage racks, and trash cans were given away for free.
According to Soaring Eagle, there was a buying limit of four of each item type, meaning that one person could purchase four TVs, four desks, four mattresses and so forth.
The sale was done as Soaring Eagle is working on updating its hotel facilities at 5665 E. Pickard Road.
Interim Public Relations Director Erik Rodriguez previously told MLive/The Saginaw News that the updates will include new carpet, wall coverings, light fixtures and other updates to the hotel hallways, resulting in a “warmer and more welcoming feel," Rodriguez said, followed by updates to the lobby and registration area, and a makeover of all hotel rooms.
