LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB Fox 41) -- A widespread brush fire four miles away from Horseshoe Casino in Floyd County, Indiana carried ashes and cast a haze of smoke over southern Indiana. The fire started around 12 p.m. Saturday by burning leaves near Gap Hallow Road and spread toward Five Mile Lane.

Ryan Houche, public information officer for the Lafayette Township Fire Protection

District told Fox 41, wind from oncoming evening rains fanned the flames, making it harder for responders to fight the fire.

The location of the fire is in a rural area, with few homes or structures.

Due to lack of daylight, fire crews were pulled off the hills and out of the woods for their safety around 5 p.m. Officials say the fire is contained.
