The Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise purchased the land for $7.4 million earlier this year but needed the approval from the federal government before gaming could be conducted there.
Tribal officials expect to open the $120 million Twin Arrows Casino next spring. Plans call for a hotel, conference center, spa and golf course at the site.
The Navajo Nation has two casinos and a third in the works in New Mexico.
