PLAINS TWP. — Four people wanted in connection with the murder of an elderly man in West Virginia were captured in a room at Mohegan Sun Pocono and found in possession of guns, drugs, counterfeiting equipment and the victim’s personal documents, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Elizabeth Ann Chinn, 32, of South Point, Ohio; Elizabeth Victoria Hartley, 35, of Grafton, West Virginia; Moriah Lari Weaver, 42, of Fairmount, West Virginia; and Glenn Richard Weaver, 25, of Morgantown, West Virginia, were captured in a hotel room at the casino on Wednesday afternoon, troopers said.

Troopers say they were assisting sheriff’s deputies from Monongalia County, West Virginia, as they investigated the homicide of Timothy Pahl.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies found Pahl, 67, dead in his Morgantown, West Virginia, home on Tuesday. Deputies say Pahl sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen during the shooting, which appeared to have taken place Sunday afternoon.

Charges filed in Luzerne County say Pahl’s home had been burglarized and the thieves stole his 2017 GMC

Sierra pickup, credit cards, guns and other personal belongings.

A check with the credit card companies showed Pahl’s cards had been used at a number of businesses in Luzerne County on Monday and Tuesday, troopers said.

Investigators learned the four “suspects” had been staying at room 504 of the casino hotel, troopers said. Police conducting surveillance spotted Chinn driving Pahl’s stolen truck, which she parked in the lot before entering the room, the charges say.

Around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, troopers and U.S. Marshals raided the room and took the suspects into custody. Troopers say the search turned up multiple credit cards and personal documents belonging to Pahl in the hotel room closet as well as in Chinn’s wallet. Moriah Weaver’s identification was also mixed in with documents belonging to Pahl and his family, the charges say.

In addition to the documents, police also seized three handguns — a Colt .380 Mustang and a Taurus PT908 were found on the night stand between the beds, and a Rock Island 45 ACP was found on top of the dresser next to the TV.

Police also found about five grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, drug packaging materials, and paraphernalia such as lighters and pipes, the complaints say.

According to charging documents, Glenn Weaver is suspected of passing counterfeit cash in West Virginia, and police recovered counterfeiting equipment from the hotel room. The equipment included a Hewlett-Packard color printer that was on a counter top and photo paper, some of which was shaded to match the tone of $100 bills, the charges say.

Investigators seized about $1,400 in cash in multiple denominations that contained duplicate serial numbers, troopers said.

Police charged each of the suspects with drug trafficking, conspiracy, theft, drug possession, possessing drug paraphernalia, possessing instruments of a crime, and tampering with public records. Chinn, who has a previous conviction for armed robbery in West Virginia, was additionally charged with illegal firearms possession and receiving stolen property.

It was not immediately clear whether the four had been charged in connection with Pahl’s death. A press release from the Monongalia County sheriff’s office only said that “persons of interest” in the case had been captured in Pennsylvania and that the investigation was ongoing.

Magisterial District Judge Brian James Tupper arraigned the four on Thursday morning and ordered them held at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility. Chinn’s bail was set at $500,000 and bail for the others was set at $350,000.

Preliminary hearings were set for May 8.
