A man was taken into custody at a Henderson casino after he was found with his wife’s body in his vehicle late Saturday night, Las Vegas police said.
About 11 p.m. Las Vegas police received a 911 call from a home on the 800 block of Patagonia Ridge Avenue, near Cactus Avenue and Maryland Parkway.
Members of the wife’s family had previously received a phone call from a man who spoke to them as if the family would not see him or his wife again, Metro homicide Lt. Dan McGrath said.
The concerned family members then went to the Patagonia Ridge home and discovered blood in the garage, he said.
“That was what concerned them enough to call 911,” McGrath said.
Police responded to the scene, and about 11:20 p.m., the man called 911 from the Fiesta Henderson, 777 W. Lake Mead Drive, to report he had hurt his wife, McGrath said.
Henderson police responded to the Fiesta and took the man into custody in the casino’s parking lot, McGrath said. First responders pronounced the woman, who had head injuries, dead at the scene.
“We believe she was injured here,” McGrath said outside the Patagonia Ridge home Sunday morning. He added it was unclear whether she was also injured at the casino parking lot.
Neighbors didn’t report hearing any yelling or screaming, he said.
Police did not provide information about whether a weapon was used.
The couple has three children in common. All were found safe inside the house when family members arrived at the Patagonia Ridge address. The oldest child is 11, but ages were not immediately available for the other two.
Metro homicides detectives were en route to the Henderson casino early Sunday morning.
The Clark County coroner’s office will release the woman’s identity, as well as determine her cause and manner of death.
