A Missouri man who robbed a Kansas bank was caught after he went to a casino.
Timothy Karpovich, 39, of Kansas City, Mo., was charged with one count of bank robbery, U.S. Attorney Tom Beall said in a release.
Investigators said that Karpovich walked into a KCB Bank in Bonner Springs on Monday and gave the teller a handwritten note while keeping a hand in a pocket as if he had a gun. He then ran from the bank after robbing it.
Police received a tip that the bank robber gambled regularly at Harrah’s Casino in North Kansas City, the release said. Casino employees identified Karpovich with the help of a bank surveillance photo, and he was arrested at the casino.
Karpovich faces up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted.
