CHILD ENDANGERMENT: Battle Creek police are seeking a warrant for a 32-year-old woman after officers said she left her young son at home while she was gambling. Police were called to a home in the first block of North Union Street at 10:17 a.m. Monday after a neighbor reported seeing a boy in the window of the house calling "where is my mommy?" The neighbor told officers it was not the first time the child had been alone. Police went to the home and found the back door unlocked and the boy, 3, inside alone. He was turned over to Child Protective Services. Officers then learned that the mother had been arrested by Tribal Police at the FireKeepers Casino in Emmett Township for being drunk and disorderly with a blood alcohol level of .18 percent. The woman told police she had left home at 6 a.m. but had left the boy with another woman. Police said the mother was unable to give the proper spelling of the woman's name or her age.
DRUGS: Battle Creek police arrested a driver on charges of possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license and for unrelated warrants after stopping a car in the 100 block of Fairhome Avenue at 8:19 p.m. Tuesday.
