Cops hit Las Vegas casino after 'shots fired' post-boxing

E-mail Print PDF

Dramatic video footage captured by DailyMail.com shows the moment chaos erupted inside a Las Vegas casino after gun shots were reported just hours after the Mayweather vs McGregor super-fight.

Revelers who had traveled to Vegas to watch the boxing dived for cover, hiding under tables and behind chairs as panic spread across the casino floor at The Cromwell hotel.

Dozens of police officers, their guns drawn, descended on the hotel fearing an 'active shooter' scenario.

Police raided The Cromwell hotel in Las Vegas on Sunday morning as reports of shots fired were made from the venue, which was hosting a boxing afterparty

People were seen walking out of the Cromwell with their arms up. Chris Brown was to play Drai's nightclub, located on the top of the venue, that very night

In the footage, taken inside a bar near to the entrance of the casino at around 1.30am, hundreds of people can be seen cowering on the floor before police and hotel security instruct everyone to evacuate the building.

Officers can be heard shouting 'Get out, get out now', as party-goers fled. Screams and shouts can be heard as chaos ensued.

Drai's BeachClub & Nightclub, which is on the top floor of the building, was also evacuated, with club-goers ordered to head out on to the street with their hands in the air.

Rapper Chris Brown had been due to perform at the packed-out venue before the police arrived on scene.

Hundreds of party-goers flooded out on to the Vegas strip - just a short distance away from the T-Mobile arena where the fight took place - and dozens of police cars, their sirens blaring, arrived on scene.

Outside, police were seen cuffing a man, although it's not clear whether that was in connection with the disturbance. DailyMail.com understands that no shots were actually fired

It appeared that a brawl had broken out in the entrance of the casino, resulting in statues being knocked over - which had in turn been misheard as gunshots

Revelers were made to sit on the ground in the casino's bar as police scoped out the club; the sounds were heard coming from the lobby area

More armed officers arrived and entered the casino. Las Vegas' metropolitan police department said they responded after reports of 'shots fired' but it later transpired that, in fact, no shots had been fired.

DailyMail.com understands that a brawl near to the entrance of the casino had broken out which led to heavy ornamental statues being knocked over – causing the loud noises which sparked the panic.

DailyMail.com also captured footage outside the venue of officers arresting a man who was seen being led away in handcuffs. It's not clear what involvement he had in the incident.

Shortly after 2am Lt. Peter Kisfalvi said: 'Officers cleared the building and now [are] just dealing with managing the crowd exiting the building.'

Drai's, which is located between the Bellagio and Flamingo hotels, describes itself as 'the hottest name in day and nightlife entertainment on The Strip.'

Drai's - which claims to be the first and only pool club in Las Vegas - is based on the top floor and roof of The Cromwell hotel in Las Vegas. It, too, was evacuated

The club (pictured on Friday) attracts top-flight talent, with 50 Cent performing on Friday alongside Jeezy, Trey Songz, Chance The Rapper and Meek Mill

'Drai's Las Vegas atop The Cromwell elevates the fun each pool season with the city's first and only rooftop pool party,' its website says.

The 30,000sqft bar, has 30 luxury cabanas and bungalows surrounding a palm-tree-lined swimming pool. The Cromwell is a new, 188-room boutique hotel.

The previous night Gerard Butler was spotted at Drai's kissing a mystery blonde in the VIP area, while Houston Rockets basketball ace James Harden celebrated his birthday with a large group of friends in a private booth nearby.

Rapper 50 Cent performed songs alongside a line-up which included Jeezy, Trey Songz, Chance The Rapper and Meek Mill.
