Casinos, too, move cars at the end of the month

Like auto dealers, casinos look to move cars at the end of the month. Many South Florida venues use earning entries to a car giveaway as a means to attract patrons throughout the month. So a three-day weekend such as the one coming up gives them even more opportunities:

▪ Seminole Classic in Hollywood awards an Infiniti QX50 at 11 p.m. Friday. Players have had all month to earn one drawing entry for every one comp dollar earned or for every $200 wagered on table games.

▪ Miccosukee Resort & Gaming gives away a GMC truck at midnight Friday. Slot players who hit a jackpot of $1,200 or more are eligible for the drawing, as well as poker players actively playing on Fridays.

▪ Seminole Casino Coconut Creek gives away a Range Rover Evoque both Saturday and Sunday. Eight patrons will be called hourly from 5-9 p.m. and two will make the final drawing. Guests may insert their Seminole Wild Card into any slot machine daily for one free entry and receive an additional entry for every $4 Comp Dollars earned or $800 wagered on table games.

▪ The Isle Casino gives away a Maserati at 11 p.m. Saturday. The casino has been drawing two finalists every 20 minutes from 4-10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the month. The patrons also receive $200 in free play.

Circuit Series

Seminole Gaming announced its partnership with the World Series of Poker to host two events during the upcoming WSOP Circuit season.

The WSOPC will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood Sept. 21-Oct. 2 and at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek Feb. 8-19, 2018.

It is the only two Florida tour stops booked this season by the WSOPC, which had regularly conducted two series at the Palm Beach Kennel Club.

“The Seminole group has been very committed to their poker offerings, have a multitude of properties throughout Florida and we found them to the best fit for us moving forward,” WSOPC spokesman Seth Palansky said. “We have a chance to visit multiple properties of theirs in Florida, with the chance to add more in the future and to spread the WSOP brand more broadly throughout the Sunshine State.”

The WSOPC is connected to the World Series of Poker, which has a main event shown by ESPN.

Allen suggests bid process

The Seminole Tribe of Florida was noticeably quiet during the state’s legislative session, which ended earlier this month. But Jim Allen, Seminole Hard Rock Entertainment’s president and CEO, suggested at a conference in Miami that any expansion of commercial casinos in Florida should involve a competitive bidding process.

“In my opinion and on behalf of the tribe, if the state wants to enhance revenue from gaming, then run a process … and attract great companies like Steve Wynn’s, like MGM, like Station [Casinos], Penn National Gaming, like LVS,” Allen told delegates at the International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL) spring conference. “If we’re going to do it, then let’s do it right.”

Just a week earlier, the state had once again failed at attempting to pass a comprehensive gambling bill. The blackjack portion of a five-year agreement between the Seminoles and the state expired in 2015.
