NORTH JACKSON, Ohio- Former Valley Congressman and independent congressional candidate Jim Traficant says his plan to bring an Indian casino to Mahoning county is one step closer to becoming reality.
Traficant held a news conference Friday morning to announce that a deed was filed late Thursday for the purchase of 72 acres of land at the corner of Lyntz and Sale Springs Roads on
"It will become the first process of the casino venture. The casino will be physically located there. Whether or not that will be the permanent facility will be established later by Itana," Traficant said.
Traficant continues to seek support from county and local governments for the project, even though Itana is not a federally recognized tribe.
