Decision on revoking Pa. casino license delayed - BusinessWeek

HARRISBURG, Pa.

The Pennsylvania gaming board has postponed until next month a decision on whether to revoke the license of a planned casino in South Philadelphia.

The state Gaming Control Board decided Wednesday to put off a decision until Nov. 18 after Foxwoods Casino

investors announced a deal with Harrah's Entertainment. Chairman Gregory Fajt (fite) says commissioners recognize that investors have a new plan, but the board will still consider stripping the project of its license.

The long-stalled riverfront project has faced financial troubles and neighborhood opposition since winning one of two gambling licenses set aside for Philadelphia in 2006. But Fajt says other casino licensees have overcome some or all of the same problems -- and Foxwoods is "further away from putting a shovel in the ground" now than it was four years ago.
