MEDFORD — Casino developer Steve Wynn on Tuesday revealed new details about his company’s planned Everett facility, unveiling new architectural models of the massive project and announcing a new working name for it: Wynn Boston Harbor.
At a news conference at the local office for Wynn Resorts, Steve Wynn said he hopes to break ground in July. By that time, he said, he is hoping to have a resolution of an environmental challenge by the neighboring community of Somerville.
Wynn said he expects the project to cost $2 billion, a total that is higher than previous estimates of $1.7 billion. Wynn said the company has already spent $300 million on the casino effort. One of the new models unveiled by Wynn shows the exterior of the casino along the shore of the Mystic River. Another shows the interior lobby and gambling floor. Also Tuesday, Wynn met with representatives from surrounding communities, including an official from Everett and Boston Chief of Economic Development John Barros.
