BENSALEM, Pa. (WPVI) --
Police say a New Jersey couple left three young children in a cold car for nearly two hours while they were inside a Bucks County casino.Jarrett Evan Nelson and Ebony Walker, both from Newark, are accused of leaving their 3 children - ages 1,3, and 8 - alone in a car Saturday night as they gambled inside Parx Casino in Bensalem.
Temperatures were in the low 30's at the time.
"They were there for about a hour and a half. Through video and a few other leads, we were able to track down the parents and take them into custody," said Fred Harran, Bensalem Director of Public Safety.
Police were notified after a casino patron spotted the children and told security.
The kids were evaluated at a local hospital and released to their grandparents.
Nelson and Walker were sent to jail and charged with recklessly endangering another person.
"The case will be turned over to children and youth services in Newark, New Jersey since that's where the parents are originally from," said Harran.
Harran says his department has seen fewer cases of parents leaving children unattended at the casino in recent years. He credits Parx for increasing security and cracking down on irresponsible parents.
"Just two more dopes who were not thinking. Anybody can reproduce - not too many can be parents," he said.
Police say the children were in good condition and unharmed.
