DETROIT, MI -- A bold thief dressed in a guard uniform walked away from an armored truck parked on Beaubien in Detroit's Greektown with nearly $500,000 Friday morning, WDIV-TV, Channel 4 News reports.
According to Channel 4 News, an employee for Loomis, the armored truck company, opened the door for the suspect, who is not believed to have been armed or have left in a getaway vehicle.
"Greektown Casino was not the target of the alleged larceny involving an armored vehicle this morning on Beaubien Street in Detroit," according to Rock Gaming
Vice President of Communications Gayle Joseph. "The incident did not take place at our casino and did not involve funds going into or coming out of our property.
"A police investigation is underway. As always, we are collaborating with law enforcement agencies to share information and video, as needed."

Gayle said the theft occurred outside but near the casino. She did not know for sure whether there was useful video of the theft.
MLive has left a message with the Detroit Police Department seeking comment Friday afternoon and is awaiting further details.
