BALTIMORE (AP) — Maryland officials say lottery sales and casino revenues contributed over a billion dollars to the state in the 2015 fiscal year, the first time the number has topped the $1 billion mark.
The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency said Monday that $525 million came from the lottery and $487 million from the state's five casinos. Officials say the total is an increase of about 19 percent from the 2014 fiscal year.
Horseshoe Casino Baltimore opened in this fiscal year, which ended in June. Officials say Maryland's sixth casino at National Harbor is due to open in 2016.
The other casinos are Hollywood Casino Perryville in Cecil County; Casino at Ocean Downs in Worcester County; Maryland Live Casino in Anne Arundel County, and Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Allegany County.

Maryland's five casinos produced nearly $100 million in combined revenue in July, with vacationers on the Eastern Shore and in Western Maryland helping to lift the gambling haul to a new high, Maryland regulators reported Wednesday.
