OZONE PARK, Queens (PIX11) — A woman was shot and killed allegedly by her ex-boyfriend in the parking lot of Resorts World Casino in Queens early Tuesday, police said.
The suspected gunman, who has not been identified, was later killed by police in a shootout in the parking lot of a Brooklyn school, authorities said.
Patricia Mohammed, 55, of Brooklyn, was mortally wounded shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday when a man in a white Dodge Charge pulled up alongside her and another man and opened fire, police said.
The shooting happened at 110-00 Rockaway Blvd., police said.
Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said the shooter texted Mohammed’s family and the man who she was with, calling himself “the Grim Reaper.”
Police tracked him down to the parking lot of P.S. 4 in the East New York section of Brooklyn, Boyce said.
Shortly after 6 a.m., three plainclothes officers traveling in an unmarked van pulled in front of the suspected shooter’s car. The man inside the vehicle pulled out a gun and started firing, NYPD said. The officers shot back, killing the man.
A .380-caliber semi-automatic firearm (pictured above), an extra magazine clip and an empty box of ammunition were found at the scene, Boyce said.
