ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) — Florida developer Glenn Straub, who needs to get electricity flowing into the old Revel hotel-casino in Atlantic City, was handed another setback today when a federal judge stopped Straub from hooking up diesel generators into the building’s electrical system.

Straub is being fined $5,000 a day by Atlantic City while the building’s emergency fire suppression system is without power.

Today, a federal judge in Camden sided with ACR Energy Partners, which had an exclusive contract with the previous owners to provide electricity to the Revel facility.  ACR argued that the electrical system in what’s now called “Polo North” is not suited to handle a hookup to outside equipment.  Trying that, they said, would be potentially dangerous.

A temporary restraining order will be reconsidered in ten days.  Should Straub find a way to bypass the ACR equipment, he could potentially proceed.

Those generators, brought in only about a week ago by Straub, are gone now.
