A new casino is taking shape in Jefferson, and now it's time to fill 250 new jobs.
The project has been going on for two and a half years. Construction crews have been hard at work.
The $40 million casino is finally taking shape and with the opening only four months away on Aug. 1, leaders are looking to fill the jobs that will run the casino.
"This is really the most significant benchmark so far," said Jamie Buelt, Wild Rose Casino spokeswoman.
Wild Rose is hiring workers for a wide variety of categories from casino to food and beverage staff to human resources and security.
"That's everything from accounts and servers to slot techs and IT professionals," said Buelt.
The brand new slot machines, 85 of them, have already arrived. Eventually, Wild Rose plans to have 525 machines.
"This is not just a local project with local support, it's a regional project with regional support," said Buelt.
Julie Joi owns Uniquely Yours, a specialty store located in downtown Jefferson about a mile away from the new casino.
"It's going to boost our town. It's been a long time coming," said Joi.
A job fair is planned Thursday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at their temporary office location at 300 Microsoy Drive.
