A massive brawl inside the casino was caught on video. Apparently, it was over a woman, police now say.
Cops have cuffed the man who fired a gun outside Resorts World Casino in Queens last Friday as a massive brawl raged inside the gaming emporium, police said Tuesday.
Jaquan Roberts, 22, who had been sought by authorities since Friday night, was apprehended Tuesday morning, Deputy Inspector Jeffrey Schiff, commanding officer of the 106th Precinct, tweeted.
“Jaquan Roberts (M/B/22), the @ResortsWorldNYC RWC shooter, is in custody as of 8:25 AM!” Schiff wrote. Roberts turned himself in to authorities, police sources said.
He was charged with attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon, officials said. His arraignment was pending Tuesday afternoon.
Roberts is accused of firing several shots in the parking lot at the Rockaway Blvd. racino Friday night as about 20 people fought with each other inside at the grand opening of a Fat Tuesday bar in the food court.
Video of the fist-swinging, chair-throwing mayhem went viral on the Internet.
While witnesses said the fight was over long lines at the new daiquiri spot, cops later determined that the fight broke out over a woman, police sources said.
The parking lot gunfire wasn’t directly related to the food court fight, officials said.
Cops obtained surveillance video of Roberts firing the gun and were able to track him back into the casino. They also connected him to a vehicle by using a license plate reader at one of the exits.
A computer check of the building where the auto was registered yielded two people who had been arrested in the past.
Detectives from the Facial Recognition Unit identified Roberts as the shooter, cops said.
Roberts was arrested in 2010 for possession of a loaded .22-caliber American Arms revolver after he shot himself in the right leg, cops said.
