Police arrested 27-year-old Jeremy Schlenker on I-5 near Salem late Saturday afternoon. He is suspected of shooting a man in the parking lot at the Emerald Queen Casino near Tacoma early Saturday morning.
Puyallup Tribal spokesman John Weymer says the victim was shot after confronting the shooter. The shooter's car was blocking the victim from leaving.
Weymer says the shooter had earlier confronted another couple with a gun and then drove to the side of the lot and fired into the air. Next, he parked behind the victim's car and refused to move. He shot the driver and drove away.
The incident was captured on the casino's video surveillance camera.
"We've never seen this guy before, we don't know him," Weymer said. "Again with our video surveillance we were able to get his license number, and determine who he is and where he's from."
Investigators don't think the two men knew each other.
It is unclear when Schlenker will be brought back to Washington to face charges.
