Rocky Gap Lodge & Golf Resort, which will become the state's fourth operating casino when it opens later this year, will hold a job fair Saturday, Feb. 23 to fill about 250 full- and part-time jobs.
The fair will be held at Allegany College of Maryland's Cumberland Campus in the Continuing Education Building and runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Human resources representatives from the hotel will be looking for candidates in many areas of the operation, including food service and casino gaming. To work on the casino floor, applicants must be at least 21 years old. All others must be at least 18.
Rockey Gap's casino floor is scheduled to finally open during the second quarter of the year. The project has been hampered by financial problems, and owner Lakes Entertainment had to scale back plans when it failed to find funding last year. The casino will feature about 550 slot machines and 10 table games, according to the company.
In all, casinos have said they plan to hire more than 1,500 workers by the middle of this year. Maryland Live in Hanover is bringing on about 1,200 people to staff a ramped-up gaming operation including table games, while Hollywood Casino in Perryville will need 100 additional staffers to implement live card and dice games.< Prev | Next > |
