Linda McLaughlin and Kiel Dailey got to know each other as they waited in line with hundreds of others at the job
"I've got a degree in sports turf management, but I'm also in the military. I've done some security work in the past, so that's kind of what I'm interested in right now;Â maybe shifting fields a little bit," Kiel Dailey said.
"Maybe something in finance in the hotel. I'm kind of open to everything," Linda McLaughlin said.
McLaughlin is currently unemployed.
"We just moved to the area, and I started looking for work," McLaughlin said.
Dailey works at a country club in Sioux Falls but is hoping for a shot at a new career in security.
"I'm trying to get overseas to do overseas security. It's one more thing I can put on my resume for experience to move forward," Dailey said.
Still, some of the hundreds of applicants are looking to keep their full-time jobs while working at Grand Falls part-time.
"I applied in the salon and spa on a part-time basis because I own my own salon, and I thought it would be fun to come out there too," Sherri Pattison said.
But no matter whether it's for a part-time or full-time job, hundreds of people are hoping to get their foot in the door at the new casino.
"I just think I need to be involved in that. I just think that sounds like the most fun we've had around here for so many years, and I think Sioux Falls needs something like that," Pattison said.
