has taken another step toward its purchase of Grand Victoria Casino and Resort in Rising Sun, Ind. Las Vegas-based Full House (AMEX: FLL) this week said the Indiana Gaming Commission approved a license tied to its acquisition of Grand Victoria. The 1,400-slot machine facility is 13 miles south of the Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, Ind., which is owned by Penn National Gaming Inc. (NASDAQ: PENN). Both casinos are within driving distance of Dayton and attract many local patrons. With the license in place, Full House said it could close on its $43 million acquisition as early as next month. Grand Victoria includes 300 acres, a 40,000-square-foot casino area, 201-room hotel and 18-hole golf course. The seller is an affiliate of Hyatt Hotels Corp. in Chicago. Executives at Full House, which owns Nevada’s Stockman’s Casino and manages Michigan’s FireKeepers Casino, said they’re ready to be competitive in the region’s gaming scene. Next year, the competition grows when a development affiliate of Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert opens a casino in Cincinnati, which is 35 miles northeast of Grand Victoria along the Ohio River.
