COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Gov. John Kasich has appointed the first woman speaker of the Ohio House to a bipartisan commission overseeing Ohio casinos.

The Ohio Senate in December rejected the previous Democratic governor's picks for the panel to allow Kasich the chance to choose his own nominees.
Other members include McKinley Brown, Martin Hoke, Ranjan Manoranjan, Peter Silverman, John Steinhauer and June Taylor.
By law, the commission must include an attorney, a certified public accountant, a person with law enforcement experience and representation from counties where casinos will be built.
Casinos approved by voters in 2009 are planned in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and Toledo.
