Maine towns to seek slice of casino revenue pie - Boston Herald

PARIS, Maine — Officials from the Maine town that is due to host the state’s first full-blown casino are planning to ask their legislators to help them get a cut of casino revenues.

Oxford County will receive a percentage of the casino revenue, but towns bordering Oxford won’t receive direct funding from the casino.

Paris Town

Manager Phil Tarr tells the Sun Journal newspaper the intent is to create a regional fund for local towns to use for police, fire and roads to alleviate strain resulting from the casino’s presence.

He says the towns of Paris, Norway, Poland and Mechanic Falls will be represented at a meeting Friday in Paris.

Black Bear Entertainment is planning to build a casino with both table games and slot machines along Route 26 in Oxford.
