Baccarat cheaters cost casinos $1 million - UPI.com

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Las Vegas casino and Nevada officials said they are on the lookout for baccarat cheaters suspected of scamming more than $1 million last month.

The state's Gaming Control Board agents detained a group of gamblers at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino, one of the casinos believed to have been victimized,

the Las Vegas Sun reported Wednesday.

The scam involves a player who cuts the deck against the game's rules and uses a miniature camera hidden in a sleeve to record and use information later in the game, the Sun reported.

The casino suspected a gambler of videotaping the cards, but the camera wasn't visible, so the gambler and his group were released due to lack of evidence, Bill Zender, a casino security consultant.

An Asian group called "The Cutters" is believed to be responsible for the scam, the Sun reported.
