A South Jersey teacher hit the jackpot on Thursday at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City.
The Toms River resident, who wants to remain anonymous, won enough to buy his very own yellow brick road while playing the “Wizard of Oz” penny slot machine. He earned a whopping $4,963,819.15.
“I came rushing over and the guy was very excited,” said Tim Burke, the Borgata V.P. of slot operations.
“The guy was yelling and screaming.”
A pay out that large is extremely rare for a penny slot. The teacher won it after betting the max of $4.80. Even more amazingly, he was only at the casino because he was off from work due to the snow day.
Another customer, a man from Staten Island, NY, won big while playing a “Wheel of Fortune” penny slot machine on Jan. 16. The lucky player earned a total of $3,491,146.57.
The combined winnings from both men come out to over 8.4 million dollars, all within the span of two weeks.
“It might be snowing outside," said Burke.
"But its raining pennies in here."
