ATLANTIC CITY - It may be an "unofficial" address, but Mayor Lorenzo Langford could take an official stance today on the state's intervention in Atlantic City.
Langford is scheduled to deliver his unofficial State of the City speech today at noon at Resorts Casino Hotel before the Metropolitan Business Community Association, a traditional event that
The speech comes days after the state Legislature approved an unprecedented overhaul of Atlantic City's tourism industry, which includes stripping some authority from the mayor and the local government. Langford briefly responded Tuesday to the final bill passed Monday, saying he hoped to better digest the legislation before making a formal comment. He added that he intended to lobby the governor and keep his "options open."
The mayor has already said that one of those options could be a federal lawsuit against the state, which he said Tuesday is still on the table.
The MBCA luncheon begins at noon in the casino's Coconut Ballroom.
