A fugitive wanted on human trafficking charges was arrested at the Mohegan Sun Casino last week, after her face was recognised by casino staff.
Since 2006, An
An Soon Kim had been on the run for over four years since she became one of forty one defendants accused of operating nineteen brothels stretching from Washington to Rhode Island.
Kim had managed to successfully elude the law during that time, but an episode of “America’s Most Wanted” aired on 9th December was seen by a slot manager at the casino, who then recognised her as a patron of the Mohegan Sun before tipping off the management.
Consequently, when An Soon Kim returned to the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, she was arrested while gambling with authorities finding $17,000 on her at the time. Commenting on her apprehension, homeland security special agent Bruce Foucart said:
“I am pleased that my agents in Hartford were able to apprehend this fugitive…working with our law enforcement partners, which include the Connecticut State Police Casino Unit and the Mohegan Sun Casino authorities, we were able to track down this fugitive.”
Despite holding South Korean citizenship, Kim is a legal resident of the USA and will now be transported to New York where she faces numerous charges.
