TOPEKA, Kan. -- Kansas regulators expect to decide Friday whether an Iowa developer can move forward with plans to build a state-owned casino south of Wichita.

TwitterPeninsula plans to build the casino in Mulvane near the Kansas Turnpike, 18 miles south of Wichita.
The commission would regulate the casino. The Kansas Lottery would own the rights to the new gambling and the gambling equipment, and the state would claim 22 percent of the revenues.
Regulators also oversee the new Boot Hill Casino in Dodge City, which opened in December 2009, and will control one under construction in Wyandotte County.
