Just when you thought you'd seen it all in Las Vegas comes Gold-To-Go.
It's a machine that will actually sell you gold bars and coins.
"We kind of like the idea that Vegas is sorta over the top," said Gary Del Prete with the
The machine is positioned right across from the casino under a pair of golden light fixtures.
Customers can choose between a single gram bar and a one ounce coin.
"You know a one gram piece is pretty affordable; around $60," said Del Prete.
Prices automatically adjust every 10 minutes to reflect actual market value.
The one ounce coin, at the moment, goes for about $1,400.
Golden Nugget owners believe a gold vending machine is actually a perfect fit for the casino.
They already house the largest gold nugget in the world.
The first Gold-To-Go machine debuted in Florida just a few months ago.
Operators say it's so popular it has to be refilled about every three days.
The Las Vegas unit is expected to do as well, if not better.
"It lets our guests who win a little money in the casino go right over to this machine and make a little money and invest it in a wise way," Golden Nugget CEO Tilman Fertitta said.
The machine only accepts cash and is gold plated, bolted to the ground and virtually impossible to move.
