The newest casino in Las Vegas and the one that is being counted on to revive the city's gaming industry, made the biggest splash this New year's when they agreed to pay Jay-Z $1 million to perform. The hip-hop legend will not be the only superstar to be at the facility.
Coldplay will be joining the party, and Gwyneth Paltrow, who recently embarked on a country music career, will be a special guest of the band. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is married to Paltrow, making it easier to secure both performers for New Year's.
Already there is a buzz around Las Vegas about Jay-Z performing. In past years, Jay-Z has held New Year's party's in different locations and each time the party has been one of the hottest in the country. This year will be no different with the Cosmopolitan one of the most expensive new casinos in the world, holding the bash.
"I can't wait to see Jay-Z on New year's," said self-described long-time fan Greg Bancy. "I know the tickets are going to be expensive, but I don't care. There is no better way to celebrate the New year than with one of your idols."
Jay-Z does not need the money, and it is likely he is performing more to help the casino than to pad his bank account. Between himself and wife Beyonce, the couple has more money than they know what to do with. The concert will be attended by 2,500 fans. The Cosmopolitan has almost 3,000 rooms and is expected to be the last of the casino expansion in Las Vegas for several years.
