Historic Agreement Set for Monday in Wampsville - NewsChannel 9 WSYR

Wampsville (WSYR-TV) Governor Paterson will visit Wampsville Monday morning to announce what he calls “a historic land settlement agreement.”

Last week, Paterson said that he was working on a deal to give a Wisconsin-based Indian tribe of Mohicans the right to build a casino in the Catskills.  That casino would be worth close to $700 million.

The deal would end an ongoing lawsuit

about land in Madison County.

The parties involved have been secretive about the exact plans.

Assembly speaker Sheldon Silver has been skeptical about the planned casino, because it would require a federal waiver, something that hasn’t been issued in 10 years.

Newschannel 9 will be at Monday’s meeting, check 9wsyr.com for updates.
