Metro Police have identified a woman sought for questioning after a 3-year-old girl believed to be her daughter was found abandoned in a casino restroom.
Officer Misael Parra said Friday investigators don’t know where 26-year-old Mariam Ramos lives, but learned she frequently visited casinos downtown and on the Las Vegas Strip.
Ramos is accused of abandoning the child in a woman’s restroom at Wynn Las Vegas the morning of Dec. 29.
Police released a video statement describing the woman, who is Black, after she was seen on casino surveillance video wearing a blonde wig with a ponytail and walking with the child.
Detectives learned she and child took a taxi to the Fashion Show mall before entering the Wynn across Las Vegas Boulevard.
Lt. David Valenta said the woman asked during the taxi ride about the nearest shelter.
Nevada has a no-questions-asked “safe haven” law that lets parents leave a child under 30 days old at a hospital, fire station or emergency care facility without facing arrest or prosecution.
Parra said the girl was not physically harmed and was placed in the care of Clark County Child Protective Services.
